F.A.Q.

How much does your service cost?
Probably not as much as you think. Most residential homes cost less than $220 for an entire year’s service.  That’s around $4 per week for a pest-free environment. Termite control, however, can be a little more costly due to the scope of the work we would need to perform to protect your home from these destructive invaders. We are always willing to give our potential customers free evaluations and a no-obligation quote.
As a ball park figure buildings Under 3000 square feet run $60 Quarterly and buildings over 3000 Square Feet run $90 Quarterly.

Do we need a regular service plan?
When a homeowner sees a pest, it is usually an indication that there is an infestation that has grown large enough for the pest to seek out new areas to nest and additional food sources.  If the pest population is not regularly kept in check, the infestation will continue to grow. For most homeowners, we have found that our quarterly pest control service will best serve their needs.

Should we be concerned with pesticide use in our home?
There have been many advances in pesticide formulations in recent years. Pastes and gels are regularly used by our technicians, almost eliminating the use of airborne pesticides within your home. Liquids and aerosols used by our technicians contain the smallest amount of active ingredients needed to accomplish the desired results.  The fact is, most over-the-counter pesticides are far more harmful to homeowners and the environment than anything a Command Pest Technician may consider using at your residence. It is far safer and usually less costly to let our highly-trained technicians take care of your pest problems for you.

What about my pets?
Our treatments will not harm your pets. When we apply pesticides we are targeting a specific pest only.  Our technicians are trained to identify and treat the problem pest alone without endangering other species within the environment. There is actually more danger to your pets from not having a pest prevention program in place for fleas, ticks and rodents.

How do you treat for termite and tick infestations?
To eliminate the pests we treat the environment- inside and around the house (if neccessary). The product we use has a growth regulator in it which prevents the fleas from reaching maturity and reproducing. Vacuuming thoroughly before and after the treatment is essential to the effectiveness of this chemical. You must discard the vacuum bag afterwards! To prevent future outbreaks home owners can take preventative measures such as keeping the yard manicured to reduce harborage areas, keeping pets on regular flea/tick treatment like frontline. Pricing for this service is based on the size of the yard and house.

How does your Rodent Control program work?
We use both glue traps and baits to control mice and rats inside and around the house. We usually start out with glue traps then move to baits if needed. Baits are placed in lockable bait boxes to avoid tampering with. Since the baits are toxic, we try to limit their use in sensitive accounts such as homes with young children. We do not do any urban wildlife control, squirrels, possums, snakes, raccoons, birds, moles etc.

Why do I need a termite contract?
A termite contract is kind of like an insurance policy. We are guaranteeing your home against termite damage. There are several different ways for us to do this. Most new homes have the soil treated prior to construction, thus setting up a protective barrier against the invasion of termites. In older homes, it is usually necessary to drill the brick and the concrete slabs, then inject these areas with termiticide to give your home the needed protection. This, as you can imagine, can be a little more costly, but not as costly as replacing walls and floors due to termite damage.

What do you use to treat termite infestations?
Primarily we use a product called Termidor. Termidor is a new type of termite control that for over 6 years has faced the stiffest tests that US and foreign researchers could throw at it.  Without exception, Termidor passed wit flying colors.  In fact, no other termiticide in history has consistently returned ‘100% effective’ results whenever and wherever it was used.
What makes Termidor Different?  The active ingredient in Termidor is fipronil, and it works quite differently from other active ingredients.  It also manages termite colonies in 3 months or less (that’s significantly faster than the best bait system).
Termites don’t know its there.  Many termiticides are repellents, applied as a barrier.  This means they keep termites away instead of killing them.  But if there’s a gap in the treatment, the repellent effect fails and termites get through.
Termidor is non-repellent.  Termites can’t smell it, see it or feel it.  Since they don’t know it’s there, they forage freely in treated area.  The “100% effective” results begin here.
Is it safe?  Termidor is effective at very low application rates:  typically, the active ingredient fipronil will be just 0.06%  Since 1995, fipronil has been used for flea and tick control on millions of cats and dogs, globally.  And since Termidor bonds to the soil, there’s no leaching through rainfall or irrigation.
Does it smell?  No. Termidor has virtually no odor (which means neither you nor your family will notice anything).  Since it’s applied with water, there’s also no solvent smell.
Who makes Termidor?  Aventis Environmental Science, one of the world’s largest environmental science company.  Aventis has developed a complete generation of effective, responsible pest control products for many different industries and applications.
Do you use borate for treatment? We do very little borate applications but will use it for drywood termites/powder post beetles. This is applied by directly treating the affected area- and can be used to protect wood against future attacks.
